  In Latin, “spero” (pronounced “sparrow”) means hope. So when you say our name, you literally spread hope. One of the most common birds on the planet, the sparrow is also a great symbol for our ethos of inclusion and being the carrier for the common good.

• How does sparrow's impact work?
  sparrow’s impact model is “product as impact.” A portion of every sparrow monthly subscription goes towards smartphones and data plans for people in digital poverty. We partner with nonprofit organizations and specific programs where digital access helps scale their mission and digitally-enable people in need.

• What is a sponsor sparrow?
  Every sparrow customer is a sponsor sparrow. When you sign up for service with sparrow, you get paired with a specific cause, program and when possible, individual beneficiary (“impact sparrow”). When you switch your service to sparrow, you become a sponsor sparrow and help someone in digital poverty gain digital access.

• What is an impact sparrow?
  Impact sparrows are the beneficiaries of sparrow donations and participants in impact programs. sparrow impact focuses on creating digital access for under-served communities including women, youth, refugees, veterans and homeless. Learn more about our mission and impact.

• Who receives sparrow mobile donations?
  sparrow focuses our impact on people and communities who are living in digital poverty including youth, women, homeless and refugees. To deliver donated devices and services, we work with nonprofit giving partners in the U.S. and abroad.

• Where does sparrow impact occur?
  The United States is our priority for sparrow impact with 95% of sparrow donations staying in the US. We also support programs for women and youth in Africa and Malaysia, and will continue to look for new programs as our impact capacity expands.

• Why does digital access matter?
  Even as technology becomes more affordable and internet access seems ubiquitous, a “digital divide” between rich and poor remains. The digital divide has far-reaching consequences when it comes to education and access to opportunity, especially for women, minorities and children.
